The Chorale's Annual Concert Season
The Chorale's annual holiday concert, performed over Thanksgiving weekend, has become a Bakersfield tradition. Since 1932, the chorale has opened the holiday season with a presentation of Handel's Messiah, either exclusively or along with other music or carols of the season.
In 1998, another concert with the Symphony was added to the Chorale's regular season - a program of carols and other Christmas music for the enjoyment of the entire family. This concert was so well received, it is now being scheduled as an annual event.
For it's mid-season concert, the Chorale performs with the Symphony at its March subscription concert. The March Symphony concert is under the direction of the Symphony conductor, Mr. John Farrer.
The Chorale's spring concert features lighter musical fare, which in recent years has included folk music, gospel, country-western, songs from Broadway musicals, classical vocal pieces, and songs from other countries. This concert is usually a dinner concert, often accompanied by a silent auction.
